Salone del Mobile: Milan

FashionWindows is giving you a preview of what the top brands in design, fashion, and tech are debuting this week at Salone del Mobile in Milan.

2019 Collection
Dedar’s latest collection features quality fibers, weaving techniques, and high performance pieces. It includes the Linen Anthology and Texturologie lines, and new jacquards, silks, satins, and outdoor high performance versatile fabrics. Linen Anthology—combining an element of the casual yet elegant—is offered in more than 69 thread counts and colors. The Texturologie line features a range of feels in wool, alpaca, cotton, and linen in a rich palette of colors. Geometric details in the new jacquards are notably inspired by Art Deco, Anni Albers, and travels to Japan.

LOEWE Baskets
This is LOEWE’s fifth and most significant exhibition for Salone del Mobile in Milan. The Spanish luxury brand stays committed to craftsmanship, driven by creative director Jonathan Anderson, commissioning several international artists and Spanish artisans to work and create in leather. Eleven artists known for their skill in basketry and weaving will produce one-off pieces that are both practical and decorative. Participating artists include Hafu Matsumoto, Jiro Yonezawa, Shizu Designs, Deloss Webber, Arko/Asako Sato, Jennifer Zurick, Design Afrika, Joe Hogan, John and Cissy Serrao and Patricia Gorelangton, Yoshiko Ichinose, and Lee Kyoung OK. In tandem with the artists’ limited-edition series in leather, LOEWE has also approached Spanish artisans to create a collection of bags, accessories, and charms to accompany the Salone exhibition.

Baccarat La Maison
Luxury Living—behind brands like Fendi Casa, Trussardi Casa, Bentley Home, and more—introduces
an extensive new line for 2019: Baccarat La Maison. Created in collaboration with top designers like
Jacques Grange, Gilles & Boissier, Arik Levy, Chafik, and Alban Le Henry, this is the first-ever home collection from the historic French crystal manufacturer. “It was my father’s dream to translate the
legendary elegance and iconic style of Baccarat into an extraordinary furniture collection, offering discerning consumers something truly singular,” said Baccarat president Raffaella Vignatelli.

Outdoor Collection
nanimarquina presents its first-ever outdoor line of rugs. Culminating after years of research, the collection will surely warmly define exterior spaces. The brand created the collection from a mix of ancestral techniques and innovative PET fiber. Followers of nanimarquina will recognize outdoor interpretations of favorite lines like Shade, Tres Stripes, and Tres Texture. A new addition is Oaxaca, featuring vibrant flowers and geometric shapes.

B&B Italia
“Up” Series 50th anniversary
Bay by Nipa Doshi & Jonathan Levien for B&B Italia’s new outdoor collection. B&B Italia is not only showcasing at Salone del Mobile.Milano, the brand is also celebrating the 50th anniversary of its “Up” Series. The iconic collection was designed by Gaetano Pesce in 1969. For the occasion, B&B Italia has created an installation, showcasing six new colorways—bluemarine, red, Havana, cardamom, and California green—and a debut striped edition created especially for the milestone.

The Lexus Design Award
Early this year in Tokyo, luxury automobile maker Lexus announced the names of the six Lexus Design Award finalists. During Milan Design Week, each will present their prototypes before one is selected as the winner. Each had the chance to work under the guidance of Jessica RosenkrantzShohei Shigematsu, Sebastian Wong, and Jaime Hayon. The finalists and their projects include: Lisa Marks’s Algorithmic Lace, Rezzan Hasoglu’s Arenophile, Jeffrey E. Dela Cruz’s Baluto, Dmitriy Balashov’s Green Blast Jet Energy, Shuzhan Yuan’s Hydrus, and Ben Berwick’s Solgami.
